  • Who, when, whatever: Sound Tigers at Penguins, Arena at Casey Plaza, Wilkes-Barre Twp., Pa., 7 p.m.
  • Watch: AHLTV pay-per-view
  • Listen: Mixlr audio
  • Twitters: Alan / the Sound Tigers / the Pens / Tyler Piccotti / Jason Iacona / Nick Hart
  • Box score: OK (R: Markovic, Gour; L: Goodman, Waleski)
  • Game notes: You guys. YOU GUYS. I MISSED A THREE-MINUTE MAJOR, YOU GUYS. SERIOUSLY. I don’t honestly see the point in going on. The only point is the joyful hope of seeing another one.
  • Be serious: I am serious. OK, fine. They won. They gave up a power-play goal in the first two minutes but never trailed again after Colin McDonald tied it a little over two minutes later. (Granted, they blew leads of 2-1 and 4-2.) Kieffer Bellows’ second was both the game-winner and his 20th goal; coincidentally, it was Bridgeport’s last trip to Allentown when we talked about Bridgeport 20-goal scorers and how it might not happen for the first time. Well, it has happened. The end got a little crazy: Chris Bigras took a run at Bobo Carpenter, called a match for a check to the head. Jeff Kubiak went to him and grabbed on, along with another Sound Tiger. Then Andy Andreoff pulled Kubiak off Bigras, and away they went. Kubiak was given an instigator; because it was in the last five minutes, that’s supposed to be an automatic one-game suspension. (Scheduled post, so it’s Schrodinger’s Suspension: Kubiak is all at once banned and not banned until we check our email later. If Kubiak is suspended, believe Cedric Lacroix is their only healthy extra at the moment. Alan on the broadcast said Carpenter appeared to be OK, but it was late in the game.) Bigras’ five minutes and Kubiak’s two, with 40 seconds left, invoked Rule 19.4, and I am jealous of everyone in Allentown. THE THREE-MINUTE MAJOR, YOU GUYS.
  • (Hey, um: Christopher Gibson had an assist.) YOU GUYS! (13 of the 19 Sound Tigers who played had at least a point. Actually 12 had one point. Only Bellows had two.) (Gibson is one point behind Rick DiPietro’s team record of seven for a goalie.)
  • Meh, what else is going on: Part 2 of the affiliation-go-round is official: St. Louis has affiliated with Springfield. It has been a long time since Bridgeport played a Blues affiliate. This post is four and a half years out of date, but the Nashville, Detroit and St. Louis parts are still accurate. (Florida is of course the current affiliate of the team we’re talking about. Toronto’s comes in on Wednesday.) Elsewhere, the Connecticut Whale won their 4/5 playoff game and advanced to the NWHL semifinals. Also, the state high school hockey pairings are out. And did you see what Chris Avena let his kids do to him?
  • RIP, Ed Ingles.
